Senior Operations Administrator

Location: Lawn Farm, Woolpit, Suffolk

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £37,000 – £42,000 per year

Role Purpose

 

A Transport Operator is responsible for the daily movement of the transport operation, ensuring all activities run safely, efficiently, and compliantly. The role plays a key part in managing drivers, planning efficient routes, and maintaining profitable fleet performance, while consistently achieving On Time In Full (OTIF) delivery standards. The Transport Operator supports operational excellence by coordinating resources, resolving issues and ensuring the fleet operates to the highest service and compliance levels.

 

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensure full fleet utilisation and efficiency.
  • Deliver continuous improvements by developing systems to enhance productivity.
  • Maintain driver management to support performance, engagement and compliance.
  • Ensure profitability within fleet by supporting revenue growth.
  • Any task reasonably requested by managers or directors of the business.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Managing drivers including daily brief/debriefs, holidays, timesheets.
  • Routing and planning vehicles efficiently day to day, securing backloads.
  • Respond to customer queries, resolve issues and maintain service levels.
  • Build and manage subcontractor fleet.
  • Ensure compliance with drivers’ hours, tachograph regulations and company policy.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships.

 

 

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Operational awareness, previous experience in a transport operations environment.
  • Geographical knowledge and knowledge of the transport market.
  • Effective communication skills with drivers, customers and internal teams.
  • Problem solving.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Competence with IT / Transport systems.
  • ADR Awareness – Mandatory.

Desirable

  • A Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) and ADR awareness.
